An easy way to remove pesticides from your fruits and vegetables - Guide for Healthy Tips

With food prices tied to the skies and deferments from pesticide residues in fruits and vegetables, fresh fruit and vegetables will soon become a luxury item for those who can afford free chemical and organic products.

The source of pesticide residues in our food can be the use of pesticides in crops, residues left in fruits and vegetables, or by using pesticides in homes for disinfection. Pesticide residues, as soon as in our system can be the cause of several acute and chronic diseases. Therefore, the removal of pesticides, as far as possible, is the first step forward.

As consumers we have no control over pesticides that are sprayed onto fruits and vegetables in farms, but there are several quick self-made methods that can help us get rid of the residues in large part.

The National Institute of Nutrition (NIN) recently issued a nutrition guide for India. The guidelines introduced some simple steps that should be taken by each household to remove residual pesticide contamination. These easy steps should be made of stone in every house.

Washing

  • The first step in removing pesticide residues from food products is flushing. Washing with 2% salt water will remove most of the contact pesticide residues that usually appear on the surface of vegetables and fruits.

  • About 75-80% of pesticides are reduced, removed by washing with cold water. Remains of pesticides that are on the surface of fruits such as grapes, apples, guava, plums, mangoes, peaches, pears and fruit vegetables such as tomatoes, brindzhal and okra require two to three washes.

  • Green leafy vegetables should be thoroughly washed. Residues of pesticides from green leafy vegetables are removed satisfactorily by routine treatment, such as washing with blanching and cooking.

Appliances

Fill a large bowl or your kitchen sink (pre-cleaned, of course!) 1 with vinegar and 4 parts water. Let the fruit / vegetables brew in this mixture for an hour (inorganic apples can be absorbed for another 30 minutes to an hour). Remove product from the mixture, give it another quick rinse with water, and they are ready to eat!

Look at the remaining “soaking water” after this process – you should be able to see all the muck that has occurred with the product! This mixture also helps to extend the life of your fruits and vegetables, so that they last longer without spoiling.
